Alan M. Jacobson, MD
Dr. Alan Jacobson is Senior Vice President and Director of the Strategic Initiatives Division at the Joslin Diabetes Center, where he directs the development and implementation of Joslin programs designed to improve the quality and outcomes of diabetes care across the United States and other countries. He also serves as Chief of Psychiatry at Joslin and directs the Center’s Behavioral Research Program.
Dr. Jacobson is Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and has authored over 150 articles, chapters, and books. The recipient of numerous awards and honors, he has served as a scientific consultant to the National Institutes of Health and has been the principal investigator on several large NIH sponsored research studies on psychological aspects of diabetes. Dr. Jacobson received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Medical School and completed his residency in Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
